Duties Of Editors

These guidelines are based on existing Bioinfo Publications policies and Bioinfo Publications Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors

Publication decisions
Bioinfo Publications editor of a open-reviewed journal is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always drive such decisions. Bioinfo Publications editor may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. Bioinfo Publications editor may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Fair evaluation process
Bioinfo Publications editor should evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, country or political philosophy of the authors.

Bioinfo Publications Confidentiality
Bioinfo Publications editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Conflicts of interest and Disclosure
Unpublished manuscript, text materials, diagrams, tables, figures, disclosed in submitted articles must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the all author of that manuscript.
Privileged information or ideas obtained through review process must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage.
Bioinfo Publications Editors should ask a co-editor, associate editor or other member of the editorial board instead to review and consider from considering manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, organisation or institution connected to the all manuscripts came for editing.
Bioinfo Publications Editors should require all contributors to disclose relevant competing interests and publish corrections if competing interests are revealed after publication.

If needed, other appropriate action should be taken, such as the publication of a retraction or expression of concern.
Bioinfo Publications should be ensured that the review process for sponsored supplements is the same as that used for the main journal. Items in sponsored supplements should be accepted solely on the basis of academic merits, research and interest to readers and not be influenced by commercial considerations.

Bioinfo Publications Involvement and cooperation in investigations
Bioinfo Publications editor should take reasonably responsive measures when ethical complaints have been presented concerning a submitted manuscript or published manuscript, in conjunction with the publisher.

Duties and Responsibilities of Editor
The Appointee normal duties and responsibilities shall be given in Bioinfo Publications Journals during the Appointment period. The Bioinfo Publications Journals shall reserve the right to vary and amend duties/responsibilities at any time at its sole and absolute discretion. The Appointee shall devote full commitment to the services and shall endeavor to the utmost in his capacity to promote the interest and good name of Bioinfo Publications Journals.
The Appointee appointment shall be subject to the provisions of the rules and regulations of Bioinfo Publications Journals that may be amended from time to time and according to the Publications.

Editor Responsibilities include:
1. Bioinfo Publications is interested to associate with well qualified people to increase the reach in the scientific research community. There is no bond for accepting the responsibility; you can work as long as you have enough time towards the journal activities.
Invitation and collections of initial articles from editorial board members
2. Together with other editorial board members, solicit a steady stream of articles on a journal issue basis
3. Adding reviewers to the open review process and reviewer database
4. Assigning reviewers to the respective articles
5. Oversee the open review process and making sure that reviewers respond within the deadline
6. Open review assists the Bioinfo Publications editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the articles
7. Reviewing and Promptness of Publication
8. Ensure the quality of published material through peer-review, own comments, and editing
9. An editor must have superior skills to ask for revision without the reviewers' decision and if needed, should be able to rewrite poorly written manuscripts.
10. Bioinfo Publications editor should evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, country or political philosophy of the authors.
Some other duties and responsibilities of Bioinfo Publications Editorials as:
1. Timely provide review comments on the assigned papers
2. Distribute the information of Bioinfo Publications Journals to conferences, websites and magazines
3. Recommend Editorial Member and Reviewers for Bioinfo Publications Journals
4. Work to index Bioinfo Publications Journals in major indexers
5. Timely communicate with Bioinfo Publications Editorials
6. Work with Bioinfo Publications Journals to launch special issues
7. Others....

Role of Editorial Board Members of Bioinfo Journals
1. Review the special issue proposals for relevance to current research in the concerned field.
2. Recommend suitable proposals and their guest editors along with their biographies.
Once a proposal has been accepted by the Editorial Board members for creating a special issue, the corresponding guest editors will be responsible for handling and processing of the special issue articles.

Role of special issue Guest Editor(s) of Bioinfo Journals
1. State the importance of the proposed special issue theme and explain how the special issue articles will contribute towards advancing the scope of the Bioinfo journal.
2. Suggest potential authors and invite them for contributing relevant articles for the proposed special issue.
3. Suggest a minimum of 3-5 reviewers for the manuscripts submitted towards the special issue.
4. Carry out all communications with potential authors and reviewers concerning Instruction for Authors or as per author guidelines for manuscript preparation and reviewing.
5. Prepare a timeline and schedule for the release of special issue articles. This should include a timeline for manuscript preparation, review process, and final submission.
6. Oversee the submission of final edited versions of the contributing articles along with the contact information of all corresponding authors.
7. Include a short editorial for the topic of interest written either by the guest editor or by any of the contributors.

Submission Process
1. Special issue articles can include original unpublished research articles, review articles, short communication, case reports related to the specific theme.
2. Manuscripts will be accepted for publishing in the special issue only after getting approved by the peer review committee [selected by the guest editor(s)].
3. All the articles in special issues should strictly adhere to journal style and formatting.
4. Each special issue can be created with 7-15 articles.
5. All accepted manuscripts can be submitted online *Editorial Tracking System
6. Submission should be accompanied by a cover letter with reference to the concerned special issue theme.
7. Accepted manuscripts submitted before the deadline will be published within the given timeframe for the respective journal publication.
Once accepted and published, all special issues will be released under an open access system through Bioinfo Publications and will be freely available for reading, downloading, and printing.

Benefits for special issue editor :
1. Editorial board member receives number of benefits including some waiver or discount on total publication charges in any journal covered by Bioinfo Publications.
2. Special issue editor can invite colleagues to publish their paper in Bioinfo Publications Journals including some waiver or discount (for special issues only)
