Kagzi- lime (Citrus aurantifolia) is a citrus fruit variety in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka state of India available in small to medium size, its pulp is juicy greenish with strong adherence to the yellowish, green, thin or papery and shiny. It is mainly used for processing purpose. Physical and frictional characteristics were determined in laboratories. It includes, linear dimensions, mass, bulk density, Sphericity, rolling angle, static co-efficient of friction and dynamic co-efficient of friction were determined for the Kagzi-lime. Polar diameter of Kagzi-lime was in the range of 3.33 cm to 4.48 cm whereas equatorial diameter was in the range of 3.34 cm to 4.47 cm. The maximum thickness value was in the range of 3.34 cm to 4.35 cm whereas weight of Kagzi-lime was in the range of 21.90 gm to 46.32 gm. The bulk density of Kagzi-lime was in the range of 551.80 kg/m3 to 585.83 kg/m3 and sphericity varied between 97.5 to 99.1 per cent, respectively. The highest rolling angle was found on plywood surface (8.05 degree) and lowest on aluminum surface (6.65 degree) was recorded for the Kagzi-lime fruit.

In global agricultural, decision making at all levels are increasing rapidly due to unreliable and uneven distribution of combined experience of complex processes associated with the food production. Besides flaws in human initiative judgement have far-reaching consequences for the sustainable agriculture development. Therefore, aiding the reliability and deficiencies of human judgement and quality decision-making has been a major focus of research throughout the history particularly with the development of Decision Support Systems (DSSs). DSS is interactive computer-based system that help decision makers solve unstructured problems under complex and uncertain conditions by providing access to data through procedures and analytical reasoning. These systems have been designed to address complex tasks involving multiple disciplines of agriculture, enabling us to mimic the necessary requirements of crop with respect to the land characteristics so that the optimum objectives specified by the user is obtained. Experimental use of these systems has resulted in improved integrated crop production and management with restricted use of the natural resources together with improved farm income and reduced negative environmental impact. With the advent of powerful computation, efficient database management system, on-line analytical processing (OLAP), improved knowledge representation, efficient searching techniques, data warehousing and mining, Geographical Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS); DSS are being extensively used world-wide using state of art technologies, integrating multiple models for sustainable agriculture development from farm to fork, despite “Problem of Implementationâ€. Once the barrier is crossed, it will give a leading role to DSS in global sustainable agriculture.

The vegetable crops are priority in agriculture by virtue of its vast potential in improving the socio-economic conditions of the farmers due to its production potentiality in a short period. In this study tabular analysis and Nominal Protection Coefficient measures has been used to measure the export potentiality and competitiveness of different vegetable crops in Gujarat. Greater potentiality of vegetable export was found due to its increasing trend of production and productivity. Potato as well as onion crop was found greater potentiality of export from Gujarat. The export of different vegetables i.e. cabbage, potato, tomato and onion was found competitive to other countries and among these four major crops, cabbage was found to be highest export competitive crop. Therefore, cabbage crop needs special attention for promotion of export from Gujarat. Singapore, Indonesia and Qatar and Russia were found to be highest export competitiveness for cabbage, onion, tomato and potato, respectively.

Land is a finite natural resource and there is no scope to increase the area under cultivation. Moreover, this is becoming scarce resource due to immense agricultural and demographic pressure. Systematic study of any place requires information regarding the land use/land cover of particular place to perform wide variety of tasks. Remote Sensing can provide important data for land use/land cover mapping. In the present study, satellite data IRS P6 LISS III for Bhind district, Madhya Pradesh was classified using supervised classification. Satellite data classification accuracy was also performed and resulted in overall accuracy as 95.75%.

A field investigation entitled “Effect of tillage practices for soil moisture conservation and crop yield under cotton based cropping system in vertisol†was conducted during kharif season 2012-2013 at All India Co-ordinate Research Project (AICRP), for Dry Land Agriculture, Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani, with Cotton and Soybean crop. The experiment was laid out in spilt plot design with four main treatments viz one ploughing followed by one harrowing across the slope up to 10 cm (T1) (control), up to 20cm depth (T2), up to 30cm depth (T3), and up to 40cm depth (T4) and sub main treatments with cropping systems viz sole cotton (C1), cotton + soybean (C2) (1:2) and sole soybean (C3). Treatment wise and replication wise sowing of cotton and soybean was done across the slope in the field to know the effect of tillage treatment on soil moisture conservation, replication wise soil sample were collected at 15cm, 30cm 45cm depth and the soil moisture was recorded fortnightly. Treatment and replication wise biometric observations viz. height of plant, number of bolls/pods and number of branches were also recorded fortnightly. Treatment and replication wise seed cotton and soybean yield was recorded. Among tillage practices one ploughing followed by one harrowing across the slope up to 30 cm depth (T3) recorded significantly higher soil moisture content (21.16 %), best vegetative growth, highest cotton equivalent yield. in sole cotton (18.73 q/ha). and intercropping (20.25 q/ha) and highest Gross Monetary Return (73047 Rs/ha), Net Monitory return (50201Rs./ha) and Benefit cost ratio (B:C) (3.19) over rest of the treatments.
