Abstract

The present study was carried out at Manendragarh & Baikunthpur block of Korea district (C.G.) during kharif 2019-20 and 2020-21. There were two treatments in which one was local check and second was cultivation of improved variety of lemon grass with full package of practice under drip and fertigation. The data related to the cost of cultivation, production, productivity, gross return and net return were collected as per schedule and analysed. Result of the present study revealed the higher average essential oil yield in the improved package of practices demonstration was recorded (135.72 kg/ha) as compared to farmers practice (74.21 kg/ha) traditional adopted by the farmers. The percentage increase in the yield over farmer’s 82.89 was recorded. The technology gap and extension gap were computed 94.28 and 61.51 kg/ha respectively, along with 69.47 percent of technology index. The demonstration field gave higher average net return Rs. 202100 and B:C ratio is 1: 1.47. The result of the study indicated the gap existed in the potential yield and demonstration yield is due to soil fertility and weather conditions. Present result clearly show that the essential oil yield and economics of lemon grass can be boost up by adopting recommended technologies
