The supply chain consists of those activities associated with manufacturing from raw materials acquisition to final product delivery. This paper presents an detailed study of supplier-buyer relationships practices in the Indian manufacturing industries. Although the research in the area of supply chain management (SCM) has grown in recent time, the literature has yet to furnish an accepted explanation for supplier-buyer relationships are to be manifested in SCM given external and internal uncertainties to explore procurement flexibility. These manufacturing industries have been involved in such supplier-buyer relationships management practices to the extent of their participation as suppliers, their distributors and in other capacities as business partners. This study authenticates and validates that Indian manufacturing industries’ are facing significant pressures from external as well as internal stakeholders to adopt such relationships practices. Initial results gave a better understanding of which procurement flexibility is preferred when facing different environmental challenges. The results indicate strong, positive, and direct relationships between factors affecting supplier-buyer relationships and external as well as internal uncertainties.

In many respects, including costs, utility and capabilities, Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) mean different things to different persons. This study assessed the perception of the utility of information and communication technologies (ICTs) and constraints to its usage by professionals in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, Nigeria. Specifically, the study determined the personal/socio-economic characteristics of the professionals under study, assessed their perception towards the use of ICTs, and identified the constraints to the use of ICTs by the professionals. Primary data were obtained with the aid of structured questionnaire from 140 respondents randomly selected among seven professions. Data analysis involved the use of descriptive statistics and like rt scale type. Findings showed that majority (67.1%) of the respondents were males and married (82.1%) with a mean age and household size of 45 years and 5 persons respectively. About 36.45% of the professionals sampled had the terminal degree (Ph.D.); and a mean working experience of 10 years. The mean monthly income of the professionals under study was N207,643.00. The respondents had a positive perception (x̄=4.37) towards the use of ICTs. Eighty four percent of the respondents identified unstable/unreliable electric power supply as their major constraint, followed by very limited access to internet (77.9%). The implication is that if these two major constraints are improved, there will be improvement in their use of ICTs. It was recommended that steady/regular power supply, as well as effective and efficient internet service should be provided so as to increase the level of use of the facilities by the professionals. In addition, the professionals should be encouraged to acquire more ICT education, so as to boost their level of use of ICTs as this would enhance their efficiency and productivity.
