Titanium is a metal used in various fields such as aerospace, medical, chemical and energy industries because of its desirable mechanical characteristics, corrosion resistance capabilities, and bio-compatibilities. But titanium in its pure state has poor wear resistance and lower strength compared with its alloys. The purpose of this study is to observe the mechanical properties and wear characteristics of titanium alloy Ti-6Al-7Nb in dry condition using Pin-on-disc equipment in ambient air in accordance with ASTM G-99 using Taguchi methodology by applying L9 orthogonal array. Different conditions of load, velocity, and distance is considered. The surface morphology of the titanium alloy had been characterized by SEM, EDS. Microhardness and surface roughness is analysed by using Rockwell c type indenter and talysurf instrument. Highest and lowest coefficient of friction, weight loss has been observed. minimum coefficient of friction and lowest weight loss was observed for lowest values of process parameters
