Abstract

Plants of groundnuts are highly susceptible to fungal contamination, including toxin producing fungi. However, toxicogenic fungal species are important constraints to the production the crop, affecting the quality of the seeds during storage. Ten working seed samples were collected from eight location from Barkachha, Balehara, Bikramganj, Mirzapur (2), Sasaram, Ranchi, Bhopal and Varanasi (2). A total of eight genera were documented through Blotter plate method. Association of Aspergillus flavus, A. fumigatus, A. niger, Rhizopus stolonifer, Penicillium chrysogenum, Fusarium verticillioides, F. fujikuroi and Rhizoctonia solani were observed. Diversity of seed mycoflora in the study calculated using the density, frequency, abundance showed values ranges of Aspergillus flavus, (3.33-6.33, 100.00, 0.28-0.46), A. niger (3.33-5.67, 100.00, 0.24-0.46), Rhizopus stolonifer, (2.00-4.67, 33.33-100.00, 0.05-0.34), Fusarium verticillioides (2.00-2.67, 100.00, 0.16-0.20), F. fujikuroi (1.33-8.00, 33.33-100.00, 0.05-0.21) and Rhizoctonia solani (1.00-1.33, 33.33-100.00, 0.02-0.10). However, the values for percentage relative density, frequency, abundance ranges were Aspergillus flavus, (24.44-45.00, 23.08-37.50, 28.21-50.00), A. niger (20.41-45.71, 23.08-37.50, 24.39-45.71), Rhizopus stolonifer, (11.11-28.57, 7.69-27.27, 5.26-34.15), Fusarium verticillioides (13.64-20.00, 25.00-27.27, 15.79-20.00), F. fujikuroi (10.00-38.10, 9.09-25.00, 5.26-20.51) and Rhizoctonia solani (4.76-10.00, 9.09-25.00, 2.22-10.26). Important value index (IVI) of all seed mycoflora showed value ranges of 16.08-120.45 in ten seed samples
