Abstract

Two field experiments were carried out at the Experimental Station Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University, Egypt, during the seasons of 2012 and 2013 to study the effect of irrigation treatments, foliar application times with antitransparent materials (Green Miracle) and their interactions on growth, yield and its components and grains quality of some maize hybrids. Giving maize plants 3600 m3 irrigation water divided equally in 6 irrigations produced the highest values of growth, yield and its attributes and grains quality characters. However, skipping second and fifth irrigations came in the second rank after normal irrigation treatment. Maize hybrid SC 30M84 significantly superior TWC B 3521 hybrid and resulted in the highest values of all studied characters. Spraying maize plants with Green Miracle as a antitransparent material two times after 20 and 30 days from sowing produced the highest values of growth, yield and its attributes and grains quality characters. Spraying maize plants with Green Miracle three times after 20, 30 and 40 days from sowing came in the second rank after those sprayed twice with Green Miracle with significant differences and followed by those sprayed once with Green Miracle after 20 days from sowing. It can be recommended that skipping second and fifth irrigations (giving plants of SC 30M84 maize hybrid 2400 m3 irrigation water divided equally in 4 irrigations) beside spraying with Green Miracle twice after 20 and 30 days from sowing in order to maximize its growth, productivity and grains quality under the environmental conditions of Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt.
